Move of the Week: Mary Katherines

Aug 8, 2021 12:00:00 AM

Mary Katherines are a hybrid of a lunge and a squat designed to develop core stabilization and explosiveness in the legs. The switching of stance between each lunge requires an explosion of force from the legs and the core stability to stay in control and firmly planted upon landing. If you're looking for a dynamic, leg burning workout the Mary Katherine might be for you!

Why Mary Katherines?

Mary Katherines are a balancing act. If you can't keep your body stable through an explosive move, the Mary Katherines will prove difficult. Not only does the workout serve to increase strength in the hamstrings, quads, and glutes, but it also is a good practice in maintaining body control. It's a situation you'll find yourself in constantly in games, planting and cutting, ducking and weaving, and planting and driving. The Mary Katherine will help prepare you for the field.
